The Sport Aviation Association (SAA) has been organising their own bi-annual air display in Tauranga since 2004. 

In 2010, Classic Flyers joined SAA to create the Tauranga City Airshow, which then became a national airshow event with international reach. 

Starting with a one-day event in 2010, it has now grown to become a full weekend Airshow held on Auckland Anniversary Weekend (every second year).
