Family FairFor all the Family
There is a big range of entertainment for the kids, enough to keep them going all Saturday and Sunday also, if their necks become tired from looking at the aeroplanes. Apart from the ‘ride-on’ items like Ferris wheels, pendulum boats and merry-go-rounds, there are plenty of other interesting things to do. When the feet cry enough, or hunger and thirst sets in, there are plenty of food outlets and places to go to relax for a while. Try the two outstanding bars with live jazz music on Saturday. In the central food court area, there are over 20 gourmet food and refreshment sites and 130 varied trade sites well worth visiting and checking out. Take a look at the latest in modern vehicles amongst our local motor vehicle franchises. Enjoy Limoncello and / or bourbon tastings. Stop and visit the Aviation Marquee and sample some delicious home made fudge or some of our local avocado oil products. Enjoy the latest of mobile homes, tents and jet ski personal sports watercraft. Meander around the excellent contemporary inside and outside furniture. Seek out the Rotary classic aircraft raffle site and chance your hand on winning a flight in a classic aircraft. Take a wander around several of the sites, upgrade your sun umbrella, jewelry, wardrobe or even your hat and footwear. See the innovation amongst the building and home trade sites. Investigate the intrepid travel sites or check out the latest in outside adventure tourism options. It is all happening amongst 130 plus local trade sites. There is something to whet the appetite of everyone. Get out amongst them and see what our wonderful Bay and surrounding areas have to offer. And as the day winds down, take a stroll through the static aircraft display and check out those men in their flying machines. Re-enactorsThese are really noisy people who provide living history displays and provide a ground theatre to the aerial displays. There are Vietnam and World War Two era scenarios to be re-enacted. The enthusiasts put a huge amount of effort into creating and displaying the authentic uniforms and equipment of the era being represented.
The Royal NZ Navy, NZ Army and Royal NZ Air Force all have promotional stands at the airshow. Here is a chance for interested young people to compare career prospects in each of these services. Be bold and |
