Students will be shown around a typical flight school, experiencing the atmosphere of being a “student pilot” as well as listening to short lectures based on training a pilot to obtaining a commercial license.  We can even arrange for a student to take a short flight in a light aircraft although that cost will be to the student.  It costs $80 for a 20 minute flight. This arrangement will need to be arranged and confirmed before the day of the visit.
 
The “Airport Tour” which we like to call it, starts from Classic Flyers at 9 Jean Batten Drive Mount Maunganui.  We ask a small entry fee of $5.00 per person, payable on the day.  At the time of booking the tour, we will be very happy to discuss a “Tour Agenda” with you.  In other words, we will program your visit to suit the needs of your students, enabling you all to spend quality time at each of our museums as well as the flight School.  With a booking confirmed and the visiting ages of the classes known, I shall email your school with the appropriate fact sheets of your impending visit.
 
What we have to offer our secondary schools when they visit Classic Flyers:
 

• Visit our Classic Flyers Aviation Museum and share the magic and history of NZ aviation.
• Visit our Military Museums.
• Visit a Flying School and find out what it entails to become a pilot.
• A flight in a light aircraft will be available.  This needs to be arranged beforehand. $80 for 20minutes.
• We offer guides so they can explain the different displays and Classic Aircraft we have based here and answer the many questions you might have.
• We have a wonderful Café serving the best coffee in town.
• Wonderful hospitality and a warm welcome to all our visitors.

 
Cost / Payment:  A complete airport tour is $5 per person.  Museum only tour is $3.50 per person. This includes teachers and adults alike.  Payment is on the day of the visit.  We do not invoice schools.
