Feel the wind in your face as you fly over Tauranga in an open cockpit reliving the true excitement of flight. We have two open cockpit biplanes, the Boeing Stearman and the Grumman Ag-Cat. These aircraft are based at Classic Flyers and can be booked any day of the week weather permitting, contact Classic Flyers today. The Boeing Stearman was designed as a WWll pilot trainer It is a biplane, of which 8584 were built in the United States during the 1930s and 1940s as a military trainer aircraft. In the immediate post-war years they became popular as crop dusters and as sports planes. This aircraft can take 1 passenger.

Grumman Ag-Cat which was originally designed as an agricultural aircraft The bright yellow biplane has been modified to take two passengers sitting side-by-side in front of the pilot. (Apart from that the flight is similar to the Stearman, leather jacket, helmet etc and the wind in the hair).
See a piece of New Zealand air force history, the CT4B Air Trainer. These aircraft were built by P.A.C. in Hamilton and were used by the Royal New Zealand Airforce both as a trainer and with the Red Checkers aerobatics team. Calling all M.A.S.H. fans, go for a ride in a Bell 47 helicopter.
The Bell helicopter operates from Tauranga Airport, these were first used as medivac machines during the Korean War.
