Up to 180 big rigs are expected to converge on Tauranga for the 4th running of the Mount Truck Show.
Held to raise funds for the TECT Rescue Helicopter, event organisers say it's a great excuse fo proud drivers to show off their gleaming trucks, with chrome polished to a mirror shine and customer pain work that reflects the owners personalities and pride in what hey do. Competition is fierce but friendly and winning silverware is secondary to enjoying the day and raising money for a good cause.
Drivers will be meeting in Te Puke, before a convoy that's sure to have cameras snapping as they head for Tauranga Aerodrome.

On FRIDAY EVENING 17th JANUARY at 1830 (that’s 6.30 pm in normal language) – the RNZAF “BLACK FALCONS” display team, are performing a special “one off” advance display for the Tauranga public.
These guys will perform their world class aerobatic routine over Main Beach on Friday evening ahead of their Saturday afternoon Classics of the Sky Airshow display.
Introduced to the RNZAF as their new pilot trainer in 2016 and named after the KAREAREA (New Zealand’s native Black Falcon), these T6 TEXAN aircraft boast the most modern of military pilot training technology:
Pressurised cockpits – with a capability of operating at 30,000 feet, collision and terrain avoidance systems, individual pilot locator beacons and of course ejection seats make them a state of the art military trainer designed to train any military pilot to very high capability levels.
The “FALCONS” are the specially trained display team who in many cases are instructors and pilots from other facets of our Airforce, and who also provide a front line public presence with their team display.
So get on down to MAIN BEACH – or up on THE MOUNT on FRIDAY 17th by 6.30PM and get an amazing shot of what the BLACK FALCONS can do.
Classics of the Sky –

On Saturday afternoon January 18th, 2020 the skies above Tauranga will again be filled with the sight and sound of jets, aerobatic aircraft and formations of military and ex-military aircraft performing for the "Tauranga City Airshow Classics of the Sky”.
Helicopters will play a major part in the aerial activities - with a newly imported "Blackhawk" chopper making an appearance along with a great line up of local working and military choppers also strutting their stuff for the crowds to admire.
This year we have the return of the "Mount Truck Show" as a major ground component, with over 180 big rigs on display on the day.
There will be two TEXAN formation displays, old and new with the Royal New Zealand Airforce "BLACK FALCONS" and the New Zealand Warbirds "ROARING FORTIES" display teams both guaranteeing lots of noise, action and excitement above the airfield.
Come on down for a late lunch - bring your deck chair, sunshade and a picnic or buy food and beverages from one of the many food vendors on site.
