Friends of the Trust

Friends of the Trust are volunteers of the museum.

The real ‘stars of the show’, our volunteers range from those who offer their time every day, to those who commit to a few days a month, to busy folks who still roll up their sleeves and pitch in on working bee days or contribute in other ways. The Friends of the Trust is a growing group, now 140 strong, from 16 year olds to 88 year olds – but we need even more friends, and you really don’t need to have any aviation experience at all!

Volunteers of the museum become quite literally friends of ours and friends of other members, and all enjoy the fun, low-pressure atmosphere and the opportunity to be a part of the preservation of our aviation history for future generations.

All our volunteers are welcome to drop in to the museum at any time; there is always something to be involved in or help with. As well as these casual volunteers, we also have a roster system for those who want to dedicate specific times to the trust or prefer a routine to just dropping in as and when they want.

Friends of the Trust enjoy regular group activities both on and off site, whether a social event or a museum project (such as the recent ‘rescue’ of two great Devons from a remote farm paddock, and its careful journey down the Auckland motorway and back to Classic Flyers NZ!)

Whoever you are and whatever you can do, we will very likely have a place for you here!

If you are interested in finding out more about becoming a Friend of the Trust, we’d love to hear from you.

Being a non-profit making and entirely volunteer-based organisation, we would welcome any financial assistance you feel able to give – we cannot survive without funds.  We would love to be able to purchase our hangar (currently leased) and we need money for maintenance and development.

We can also assist you to market your business, so if any of these thoughts appeal to you please get in touch. Contact us here

If you have any aviation memorabilia or artefacts which you would like to see preserved but placed so that others can enjoy them, why not either gift or lend them to the Trust?  Contact Us for more information.
